Adalea is a senior early childhood education major at the University of Tennessee. She is currently pursuing literacy education research and literacy policy through the Baker Scholars fellowship. Her interests are inspired by her upbringing in remote Central Appalachia, where she first learned the power of literacy and close-knit communities. After graduation, she plans to work towards a master’s degree in early childhood education while teaching kindergarten, and then she wants to return to college for a graduate degree in literacy education and/or education policy.
